Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF): Is a context for learning through which children organize and make sense of their social worlds, as they engage actively with people, objects, and representations.

The EYLF Learning Outcomes are goals which can be achieved by children during their learning. These outcomes include identity, community, wellbeing, learning, and communication, and are used when documenting children's play and to further plan various experiences and activities at the Childcare Raymond Terrace in order to guide children's learning.

Our Early Education and Preschool

It’s all in the name; at Lakeside Creative Minds, we know the importance of a child’s first six years of life. Our vision is to provide excellent early childhood care and education in a safe, welcoming, and nurturing environment at Childcare Raymond Terrace Early Education Centre.

Our aim to stimulate each child’s natural desire to learn and offer quality care and education which foster their holistic development. Our tailored programs are designed to provide the necessary positive experiences and interactions to achieve their full potential. By providing a stimulating environment at Childcare Raymond Terrace Early Education Centre, we ensure that your child is enabled to grow physically, emotionally, intellectually, and socially through a balance of structured play, exploration learning, and group participation.

We believe in providing an environment that supports children, families, and staff to develop a strong sense of being, belonging, and becoming – setting a strong basis for lifelong education, and our purpose is to ensure children are supported to be brave, curious, and imaginative in their learning, to give them the best possible start to life at Childcare Raymond Terrace Early Education Centre.

Our Activities


Our program allows children the opportunity to move freely around their learning environment, including the Raymond Terrace Early Education Centre. Our program provides a play-based learning approach. We cater to the individual needs of children by allowing them to find a space where they feel a sense of belonging, whether that be within a classroom or outside. Our Indoor spaces for each age group are made up of “Learning Spaces” such as: Book Corner, where children are able to explore literacy by engaging in a range of texts and gain meaning from these texts. Dramatic Play Area, where children engage socially in imaginative play with both peers and Educators, developing an understanding of their world as they see it. Construction Area, allows the children to have access to construction and manipulative equipment and have opportunities for both individual and group play experiences. Creative Area, where children have freedom to use their imagination and explore and express their ideas through a variety of both natural and man-made materials. Meal Area, where children come together as groups to eat and interact over a meal. Some meal times can be progressive, which gives the children the opportunity to finish their current experiences or activities. Music and Movement Area, used by children to dance and move imaginatively. It is also used by the group to relax to music and sing along to rhymes and jingles.

Children are encouraged to make a connection with the natural environment and begin to learn and understand about the world around them. Play amongst nature is incredibly beneficial for children’s wellbeing, and Raymond Terrace Early Education Centre offers opportunities for this. Outside children can actively explore, engage with and experience the different types of natural environments that Explorers offer. Children can also engage in risk taking behavior, moving in and around spaces and obstacles. The education and care service has aesthetically pleasing, safe, flexible and functional play and learning environments. Educators, children, and families are supported to consider environmentally sustainable practices. Children’s emotional, physical, social, cognitive, and spiritual wellbeing are supported by the design and functions of the indoor and outdoor environments. The environment complements the educational and care aims of the service, supporting children to have a strong sense of being and belonging, as well as facilitating their growth and development.

When children are resting or sleeping at Raymond Terrace Early Education Centre, the brain is still actively working, helping children process information from the day. Furthermore, this is also when the brain stores old memories, so a good rest is vital for this processing to take place. By taking some time out to relax, it allows your body to be physically restored and your mind mentally alert. If your child is of kindergarten or preschool age and still required a sleep, a study has found that naps can enhance learning by cementing memories that were acquired earlier in the day. “This means that rest time allows children to better remember what they learned prior to their nap".
